Manufacturing Process


There are several main methods for manufacturing hollow sections of EN10219 steel pipes. The main process steps are:


Cold forming process:
Select steel plate or strip that meets EN10219 standard as raw material.
Bending and forming: Bend the steel plate or strip into the desired cross-section shape, such as round, square or rectangular, by means of a cold bending machine.
Welding: The bent steel is welded to form a hollow section.
Inspection: The finished hollow section is checked to ensure it meets the standards.


The hot rolling process is a common manufacturing method for steel tubes.
Process steps (brief description, as EN10219 is mainly concerned with cold forming):
The billet is heated to be rolled hot.
Piercing: The heated billet is pierced into a tube by a piercing machine.
Rolling: The tube is rolled to the right shape using a rolling mill.
The tube is cooled and straightened.
The EN 10219 standard focuses on cold forming because it controls dimensions better and gives a better surface. The cold forming process also lets us make improvements to the tubes' mechanical properties and durability.
